On March 10, 2017, at precisely 11:30 a.m., the cargo ship "Nordfjord" encountered an unfortunate incident while traveling from Larvik to Sandnes, running aground south of Karmsundet. The vessel found itself immobilized just beneath the Coop Extra at Moksheim. Fortunately, it managed to refloat using its own power, but not without sustaining damage, including a hole in the hull and resulting water ingress in the forepeak area. Following the incident, authorities instructed the ship to navigate to Kopervik, where it arrived around 12:30 p.m. As part of standard procedure after such occurrences, police conducted a blood alcohol test on the officer in charge, which returned negative results.
