On November 12, 2016, at approximately 4 a.m., the vessel 'Nordic,' traveling from Rostock to Bremen, encountered a serious incident in the Northern section of the Kiel Canal. The ship struck gate 4 of the small Northern lock located in Brunsbüttel while navigating through thick fog. Following the collision, the 'Nordic' remained within the lock for an extended investigation until around 9 a.m. Afterward, it continued its journey toward the Weser River, successfully docking at Vulkan Yard in Bremen at 8:20 p.m. Unfortunately, the mishap resulted in the closure of the lock chamber for necessary repairs, with work anticipated to continue until midday on November 14.
