On July 25, 2014, a fire broke out in the cargo hold of the vessel "Nordstar" while it was docked at Vigra's deepwater wharf operated by Subsea 7 in Gjøsund. The incident occurred at approximately 9:45 a.m. and prompted immediate action from the crew, who managed to extinguish the flames before local fire services arrived on the scene. Fortunately, the quick response helped mitigate the damage and protect the crew on board. However, two workers present at the location required medical attention due to smoke inhalation and were subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment. Initially, there was significant smoke reported from the hold, which led the fire brigade's smoke divers to conduct thorough checks throughout the vessel to ensure no further personnel were at risk. At the time of the fire, the "Nordstar" had a total of 18 individuals on board. The cause of the fire, which occurred during the installation of additional plates and insulation within the cargo hold, is currently under investigation by local authorities.
