Significant Allision In Niteroi: 'Normand Flower' Damaged at Shipyard
On November 25, 2025, the offshore vessel 'Normand Flower' was involved in an allision with the quay at the Nit Port Shipyard located in Niteroi, near Rio de Janeiro. The incident occurred as part of scheduled maneuvers to transfer the ship between two quays for maintenance purposes. Reportedly, while the 'Normand Flower' was backing away, it was unable to halt its movement in time, resulting in a collision with the quay, despite the efforts of two assisting tugs. The impact led to considerable damage, with the quay sustaining severe structural harm. Additionally, the vessel's port side stern was breached above the water line, causing a water tank to rupture and spill its contents. As of November 27, the 'Normand Flower' was anchored at coordinates 22Β° 51' S 043Β° 09' W. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in this accident. The 'Normand Flower' is set to commence a new four-year contract with Petronas starting in December. Coast Guard Rescues Crew Member from Normand Flower near Galveston
On November 13, 2014, a Houston-based Coast Guard helicopter team successfully conducted a medical evacuation of a 34-year-old crew member from the vessel 'Normand Flower'. Around 10 a.m., the vessel, located approximately 112 miles off the coast of Galveston, Texas, reported that a crew member was experiencing a mysterious rash affecting her arms and thighs. In response to the urgent call for assistance, a rescue helicopter from the Coast Guard's Houston air station was dispatched to rendezvous with the ship. Once on the scene, a skilled crew member was lowered to the deck to perform an initial evaluation of the patient. After assessing her condition, the woman was lifted into the helicopter and transported to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston for further medical treatment.
