Containerships VII Fire Incident in the Gulf of Finland
On the morning of October 7, 2017, the 'Containerships VII' experienced a fire while navigating the Gulf of Finland, as it made its way from St. Petersburg to Helsinki. The blaze originated in a generator located within the engine room. Fortunately, the skilled crew acted swiftly to contain the fire, ensuring that there were no injuries reported and that environmental damage was averted. Following the incident, the vessel anchored near Seitskär Island in the eastern Gulf of Finland to assess its ability to resume its journey to Helsinki under its own power. Severe Accident at Sea: Finnish Crew Member Injured Near Rügen
In a harrowing incident on January 23, 2016, a member of the Finnish crew aboard the 'Containerships VII' suffered serious injuries after falling down a stairway while the vessel was situated off the coast of Rügen. The 32-year-old sailor sustained significant head trauma during the fall, prompting an urgent medevac operation. The lifeboat 'Harro Koebke', operated by the DGzRS station in Sassnitz, responded to the emergency and headed towards the ship equipped with an emergency medical team. The two vessels intersected approximately five miles northeast of Cape Arkona. Upon arrival, the injured sailor was stabilized and carefully transferred onto the lifeboat using a vacuum stretcher. At 2:45 a.m. on January 24, the injured crew member was handed over to an ambulance upon reaching Sassnitz and was then transported to the hospital for further treatment.
