Robbery Incident Aboard Container Ship 'Trinidad Trader' at Port-au-Prince
On the evening of March 8, 2020, at 8:40 p.m., the container vessel 'Trinidad Trader' experienced a security breach while anchored at the Port-au-Prince anchorage in Haiti. An unknown number of robbers boarded the ship, launching an attack on the duty able seaman. Fortunately, the seaman sustained only minor injuries during the incident. The crew quickly responded by sounding the general alarm, gathering in the accommodation area for safety. Local authorities, including Port-au-Prince port control and the Haiti Coast Guard, were promptly notified of the situation. After approximately 20 minutes, the Chief Officer led a thorough search of the ship but unfortunately did not locate the intruders. However, during the search, it was discovered that four mooring ropes and a metal wire with hook were missing, indicating theft. On January 11, 2019, at 2:15 p.m., the cargo vessel 'Trinidad Trader' encountered a mishap while making its way to the 5C quay of Puerto Cortés, Honduras. The incident occurred as the ship, coming from Caucedo in the Dominican Republic, allided with the protective barriers set up at the quay. Assisted by tugs during the approach, the vessel managed to disengage from the barriers with help before relocating to an anchorage for necessary surveys.
