On May 26, 2025, maritime authorities detained the vessel "NS Sabina" in Çanakkale due to a total of 18 identified deficiencies. Among these, ten were classified as serious enough to warrant immediate detention. The infractions included critical fire safety issues such as the absence of the International shore connection, malfunctioning fire-fighting equipment, and other regulatory breaches. Additionally, the ship fell short in emergency procedures, failing to meet the necessary standards for enclosed space entry and rescue drills. Communication systems onboard were also found lacking, with expired SART/AIS-SART batteries and other functional deficiencies noted.
