Geosea Successfully Recovers Lost Anchor of Dutch Warship Zr.Ms. 'Rotterdam'
In a remarkable recovery operation, the Geosea has successfully retrieved the anchor lost by the Dutch dock landing ship Zr.Ms. ‘Rotterdam’, which weighs in at 12,750 tons. The anchor went missing in February 2020 off the coast of England during a planned maneuver that was disrupted by storm Ciara, which damaged part of the anchor gear and caused the anchor chain to snap. Although the Zr.Ms. 'Rotterdam' continued its journey, the Royal Navy took measures by marking the exact location of the lost anchor. Fast forward to June 10, the Geosea delivered the recovered anchor to the Dutch naval base in Willemsoord, located in Den Helder. This successful operation not only highlights the collaboration between the Dutch Navy and Geosea but also underscores the importance of maritime recovery efforts.

Fjord-1 Ferry Rescues Geosea After Engine Failure in Selbjørnsfjord
On February 7, 2018, the research vessel 'Geosea' experienced a significant engine failure while navigating from Fitja to Storebo in the picturesque Selbjørnsfjord. Responding swiftly to the emergency, the Fjord-1 ferry 'Raunefjord' (IMO: 9344772) arrived to provide assistance. This unexpected incident caused the cancellation of the scheduled ferry departures at 4 p.m. from Halhjem and 4:45 p.m. from Sandvikvåg due to the rescue operation underway. Initially, the 'Raunefjord' towed the stricken vessel, carrying a crew of seven, before the towing duty was subsequently transferred to the 'Ringafjord'. This prompt response ensured the safety of the crew aboard 'Geosea' and highlighted the collaborative efforts involved in maritime safety in the region.
