On February 8, 2018, at approximately 04:20 a.m., the MV Emma, which was journeying from Halmstad to Ayr with a crew of seven, experienced a major engine failure while drifting off the coast. In response to the emergency, the Campbeltown lifeboat was deployed to standby near the vessel for safety.
