The Omskiy-111: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On the morning of December 6, 2020, the cargo vessel 'Omskiy 111', while making its way from Astrakhan to Amirabad, ran aground in the Volga–Caspian Sea Channel at kilometer mark 158. This incident occurred near the grounding location of the 'Port Olya 2', another vessel also destined for Amirabad with a grain cargo. The grounding of the 'Omskiy 111' blocked the fairway, leading to a temporary halt in transit for multiple vessels in the area. In response, maritime authorities dispatched a tug and an icebreaker to provide assistance and facilitate the removal of the grounded ship.

On February 27, the freighter 'Amgu' found itself aground at the southern edge of the St. Petersburg Canal, as detailed by Odin.tc. The incident occurred due to an unexpected engine failure that left the vessel stranded. Fortunately, assistance arrived swiftly, and within two hours, the 'Amgu' was successfully refloated with the aid of a tugboat, allowing it to continue to a designated berth in St. Petersburg port. Fortunately, no significant damages or leaks were reported following the grounding. The 'Amgu' had previously arrived at St. Petersburg on February 25 after making its journey from Kiel, only to run aground while departing the port.
