What Crew Members Say About Omskiy-141

On October 3, 2021, the cargo vessel 'Omsky-141', carrying 2,700 tons of timber, ran aground on the Svir river. The incident occurred just one kilometer from the village of Kezoruchai and approximately 1.5 kilometers from the Podporozhsky river port quay. Thankfully, the grounding did not obstruct the fairway, and there were no reports of an oil spill or environmental damage. The ship became lodged on the right edge of the river, prompting authorities to issue navigational warnings. Other vessels in the area were advised to proceed with heightened caution and adhere to new speed restrictions to ensure safety on the water.

On August 16, 2016, at around 8 a.m., the cargo vessel Omskiy 141 encountered trouble in the Svir River when it ran aground at the 960-kilometer mark. The ship was transporting a substantial load of 3,000 tons of steel as it made its journey from St. Petersburg to Cherepovets. Unfortunately, during this incident, the vessel sustained damage, resulting in a breach in the forepeak as well as in one of its ballast tanks, leading to water ingress and complications for the crew.
