In a significant maritime event, OOCL unveiled the sixth and final vessel of its remarkable 'G-Class' series today at the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) shipyard located on Geoje Island. This series of containerships boasts an impressive capacity of 21,413 TEUs. The collaboration between OOCL and SHI dates back to 1995, when the inaugural 4,960 TEU vessel, named OOCL Hong Kong, was launched. Over the years, this partnership has flourished, resulting in the construction of more than fifty successful newbuild projects, all adhering to the highest standards of quality. Notably, this partnership has also marked historical milestones in the maritime industry, with the launch of the OOCL Shenzhen in 2003, which had a capacity of 8,063 TEUs, followed by the record-breaking OOCL Hong Kong last year, setting new benchmarks as the world’s largest containership by carrying capacity.
