The Oocl-Southampton: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

In a maritime incident off the coast of Hong Kong, the boxship OOCL Southampton was involved in a collision with the Chinese cargo vessel, believed to be named Hang Sheng 18, early in the morning on November 5, 2013. The accident occurred approximately 6 nautical miles from the shore, resulting in the sinking of the Hang Sheng 18. Fortunately, 12 crew members were safely rescued by nearby vessels responding to the emergency. However, the aftermath saw an unsettling oil slick spanning around 2000 by 100 meters, suspected to be leaking from the Hang Sheng 18. Following the incident, the OOCL Southampton made its way to Lamma Anchorage. The vessel subsequently departed from Hong Kong on November 6, setting its course towards Singapore.
