In a groundbreaking achievement for sustainable shipping, the OOCL Taipei has become the inaugural vessel to harness shore power at the Port of Shenzhen's DaChan Bay Terminals. The momentous event took place on January 22, when the ship successfully connected to the terminal's state-of-the-art shore power system. This milestone signifies a significant step in DaChan Bay Terminals' commitment to developing an eco-friendly port. A representative from DaChan Bay Terminals stated, "The implementation of the shore power system aligns with the Shenzhen municipal government's Five-Year Plan to establish a Low-carbon Green Port in Shenzhen." Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has proudly announced the successful christening of its latest vessel, the OOCL Taipei, a state-of-the-art container ship with a capacity of 8,888 TEU. The ceremonial event took place on Changxing Island in Shanghai, highlighting OOCL's commitment to modern maritime technology and operational efficiency. The OOCL Taipei, part of the innovative SX-class, will enhance the company's capabilities in the transpacific trade route, facilitating connections between Asia and North America. Mylene Seah had the honor of sponsoring the ship, embodying the strong partnership between OOCL and DBS Bank, which was represented at the ceremony by its chairman and his wife.
