On the night of January 3, 2023, at precisely 10:20 PM, the cargo vessel 'Ozgur Aksoy', headed for La Rochelle-Pallice, collided with the Zandvliet lock located on the right bank of Antwerp. The incident occurred as the ship was entering the lock, causing it to strike the upper section of the structure. As a result of this allision, the 'Ozgur Aksoy' sustained notable damage, including cracks on both the port and starboard sides, specifically below the waterline. Following the accident, the vessel was ordered to dock for examinations by the Port State Control. Remarkably, there were no reported injuries, and the lock continued to function normally.
