On the morning of July 27, a fishing vessel encountered a significant mishap as it was struck by the container ship MARCONNECTICUT while navigating the Pintang waters in Fujian province, Taiwan Strait. The collision resulted in extensive damage to the fishing vessel's fore port side, leaving two fishermen injured. The Fujian Maritime Bureau has identified the MARCONNECTICUT as the main suspect in this hit-and-run incident, which was making its way from Busan, South Korea, to Hong Kong at the time of the accident. An investigation team promptly boarded the MARCONNECTICUT upon its arrival in Hong Kong on the same day. As of July 30, the shipping vessel was reported to be en route from Chiwan to Xiamen, where a thorough investigation is expected to be finalized.
