The Maari oilfield is set for a significant boost as the Maersk Server makes its way to support a vital $60 million upgrade of the Raroa storage and production vessel. This operation involves the meticulous overhaul of eight mooring lines that secure the Raroa approximately 100 meters below the surface. Unfortunately, earlier this month, the support vessel Pacific Discovery encountered a mishap when a rope became entangled in one of its propellers, resulting in considerable damage. The incident, which occurred on April 11, also affected a second propeller, forcing the Pacific Discovery to be towed approximately 80 kilometers offshore from Taranaki to Port Nelson on New Zealand's South Island for extensive repairs. The arrival of the Maersk Server will ensure that the upgrade continues without interruption, maintaining the operational integrity of the Maari oilfield.

In a recent maritime incident, the vessel 'Pacific Discovery' sustained significant damage to its propellers while operating in the waters off Taranaki. On April 11, 2016, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Maritime New Zealand was alerted after a rope became entangled with one of the ship's propellers, leading to extensive damage. In addition to the primary damage, the second propeller also incurred harm. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among the crew members aboard. The 'Pacific Discovery' was subsequently taken in tow, with its arrival in Nelson anticipated on April 12 at 3 p.m.

Equipped with powerful 500 MT RRM Brattvaag winches, the D-Class fleet is designed to support the latest semi-submersible rigs in challenging deepwater conditions. Additionally, the PACIFIC DISCOVERY features ample cargo capacity and a spacious clear deck that accommodates a variety of offshore operations. The vessel is integrated with cutting-edge Dynamic Positioning technology and enhances station keeping through a high Environmental Reserve Number (ERN), as well as an independent drop-down azimuth thruster. Other notable features include the Anchor Recovery Frame (ARF) and deck travelling cranes, ensuring that the PACIFIC DISCOVERY is well-equipped to tackle the demands of modern offshore tasks.
