Innovative Battery Solution Installed on Masterbulk Vessel Panamana
In a pioneering collaboration with Singapore-based owner Masterbulk, Eco Marine Power (EMP) from Japan has announced the successful installation of an UltraBattery battery pack aboard the 54,810 dwt general cargo ship, Panamana. Manufactured by the reputable Furukawa Battery Company, this advanced battery pack is set to be an integral element of the upcoming Aquarius Marine Solar Power system created by EMP. Heroic Medevac Operation Near Barfleur Saves Filipino Sailor
On October 15, 2014, at 9:15 a.m., the CROSS Jobourg received an urgent alert from the Dutch Coastguard regarding a crew member suffering a suspected stroke aboard the cargo vessel 'Panamana'. This alarming diagnosis was determined after a series of medical consultations facilitated by the vessel and the specialized center located in Den Helder. The 'Panamana' was positioned approximately 100 kilometers northeast of Barfleur, well within the French search and rescue zone. In response, the CROSS Jobourg quickly coordinated the evacuation of the 46-year-old Filipino sailor. To execute the rescue, an EC 225 helicopter from the Maupertus Navy base was deployed along with a military medical team from the Medical Army Center in Querqueville. Just 20 minutes later, the helicopter arrived on the scene, and the medical team was winched aboard the freighter. After providing crucial medical assistance and stabilizing the patient, the sailor was carefully hoisted onto a stretcher and transported to the helicopter. He was then flown to Jacques Monod Hospital in Le Havre, where he was greeted at 11:20 a.m., marking the successful conclusion of the emergency medevac operation.
