On August 19, 2023, International Maritime Enterprises (IME), part of the Greek-controlled Embiricos Group, welcomed the KEA—a state-of-the-art container ship with a capacity of 6,673 TEU—into its fleet. This vessel marks the completion of a series of four wide beam ships commissioned at Hyundai Samho Shipyard in South Korea back in April 2011. The first three vessels of this type were secured through a collective agreement with Maersk Line, which subsequently opted to charter the KEA as well. As part of this arrangement, the vessel will be leased to Maersk for a term spanning two to three years.
