Renewed Efforts to Locate Missing Fishing Vessel 'Sarah Anne'
In a concerted effort to locate the f/v 'Sarah Anne', the supply ship 'Paul A. Sacuta' has been dispatched to conduct round-the-clock searches following the suspension of the Canadian Coast Guard's search operations on May 27, 2020. The 'Sarah Anne', which departed from St. Lawrence on May 25, 2020, for a crab fishing expedition, has not returned, leading to increasing concern for its crew. Tragically, three crew members were found deceased on May 26: 67-year-old Edward Norman, his 35-year-old son Scott Norman, and 42-year-old Jody Norman, who is also Edward’s nephew. However, Isaac Kettle, the fourth crew member, remains unaccounted for. The province is committed to continuing the search efforts for both the vessel and Kettle, after the Canadian Coast Guard's extensive operation covered 650 nautical miles before concluding at 8:45 p.m. on May 27. The responsibility for further searches has been transitioned to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), which, as stated, will not be conducting an active search. The community remains hopeful for news regarding Kettle’s whereabouts.
