Pauline-Russ Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On November 28, 2016, a distress call was received regarding a sailing yacht encountering severe difficulties approximately 13 nautical miles southeast of Gustaf Dalén lighthouse in the Gotska Sea, off the coast of Vastervik. The vessel, carrying two crew members, experienced an engine failure and had its sails entangled, resulting in it drifting amidst challenging conditions marked by winds of around 17 m/s, with gusts peaking at 20 m/s, coupled with rough waves. The Swedish Search and Rescue (SAR) center promptly deployed the patrol boat "KBV 313", alongside the Sea Rescue Society’s vessel, the "Ingegerd Ramstedt", and requested the diversion of two merchant ships, including the "Pauline Russ", at approximately 4 a.m. Due to the extreme weather conditions, attempts to tow the distressed yacht were unsuccessful. Efforts to evacuate the crew using a life raft also failed. In a commendable display of professionalism, the crew of "KBV 313" provided warm survival suits to the sailors aboard the yacht. Meanwhile, the rescue helicopter, Lifeguard 007, was dispatched and successfully hoisted the two individuals from the water at 6:28 a.m., transporting them to University Hospital in Linköping for medical attention. As the SAR operation unfolded, the "Pauline Russ" continued its journey from Tilbury towards Hanko, with an estimated time of arrival on November 28. All units involved in the critical rescue operation received gratitude for their invaluable efforts. On the morning of February 3, 2016, the Roro ship 'Pauline Russ' encountered issues while navigating near the Södra Grund lighthouse off the coast of Öland. The vessel was on a journey from Hanko to Tilbury. By the evening, the ship managed to increase her speed to approximately five knots, either under her own power or being towed. On February 4, at 5:30 p.m., 'Pauline Russ' successfully docked at the Ostrow Yard in Gdansk for essential repairs. Following the completion of the repair work, the ship set out again towards Tilbury on February 7, now expected to arrive by February 11.

The vessel 'Pauline Russ' has successfully completed engine repairs at Lehmann Quay, Lübeck. After finishing the work, the ship departed from the port on November 23 at 8:40 PM, setting its course for Kotka. Following a series of engine tests at various speeds, the ship is now on a steady trajectory towards its Finnish destination, with an estimated time of arrival set for November 25 at 5:00 AM.
