The Perlas: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

In a concerning series of maritime security incidents, ReCAAP ISC documented four armed robbery cases against vessels in Asia from April 19 to May 5, 2025. Among these incidents, the bulk carrier 'Perlas' encountered a boarding attempt on April 19 at 1 a.m. while navigating approximately 2.3 nautical miles off Pulau Cula, positioned at 1° 3.73' N 103° 41.04' E in the eastern approach of the Singapore Strait Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS). Fortunately, there were no injuries among the crew members, and no items were reported stolen in this alarming encounter. These incidents highlight ongoing safety concerns for ships operating in this busy maritime region.
