On February 10, 2023, the cargo vessel m/v Olivia, identified by IMO number 9113202, encountered a significant engine failure while navigating westbound through the Kiel Canal. The ship, which was en route from Bremerhaven to Klaipeda, unexpectedly came to a halt and positioned itself perpendicular to the shipping lane between Oldenbuettel and Fischerhuette, causing a major traffic obstruction. In response to the situation, the tugs 'Parat' and 'Bugsier 14' were dispatched to the scene.
