Indian LPG Tankers Granted Safe Passage Through Strait of Hormuz

Mar 25, 2026 10:00

In a significant development, two Indian-flagged LPG tankers, 'Jag Vasant' (IMO: 9307750) and 'Pine Gas', have received authorization from Iranian authorities to safely navigate the Strait of Hormuz. These vessels commenced their journey from Mina al Ahmadi on March 23, 2026, and are currently making their way along the Iranian coastline. The authorized route they are following includes the passage between the islands of Larak and Qeshm, specifically designated for vessels granted safe passage. The 'Jag Vasant', chartered by Bharat Petroleum Corporation, is transporting approximately 47,600 metric tonnes of LPG and is anticipated to arrive in Kandla by March 26. Meanwhile, the 'Pine Gas', under the charter of Indian Oil Corporation, carries 45,000 metric tonnes of LPG and is scheduled to reach New Mangalore by March 27. This favorable action reflects ongoing maritime cooperation in the region, ensuring the safe transit of commercial vessels.

Historic Propane Shipment from Nederland Terminal Sets Sail for Europe

Feb 18, 2015 20:58

In a significant milestone for the propane export market, the inaugural cargo from the 200,000 b/d Nederland terminal in Texas has completed loading aboard the vessel Captain Markos NL. This shipment is scheduled to dock in Antwerp, Belgium, on Sunday, as confirmed by Platts cFlow vessel-tracking software. The Captain Markos arrived at the terminal on January 20 and commenced loading on January 25, although the process faced some delays. A shipping source noted, "There were delays all around. The Captain Markos departed on Sunday, February 8." The cause of these delays remains unclear, with sources speculating that they could stem from technical challenges. "That is the million-dollar question everyone is curious about," one insider remarked. "As far as I know, yes, there were issues. When a vessel berths for the first time, it's crucial to check the connectors and hoses. Beyond that, I'm not entirely sure why the loading took longer than expected," added another shipping expert. Since the loading of the Captain Markos, additional vessels, including the Crystal Sunrise, Lubara, and BW Helios, have also completed their loading operations at the terminal, destined for Teesport in the UK, the Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago, and the Panama Canal, respectively.
