Working Conditions Aboard the Plata-East

On August 5, 2013, a swift response from Search and Rescue (SAR) teams was initiated following a distress signal from the bulk carrier "Front Signe". The incident occurred approximately 27 kilometers off the coast of Limassol, where a crew member sustained serious injuries during the afternoon hours. At precisely 2:30 p.m., the vessel reached out for assistance, prompting local authorities to deploy a fast patrol boat. Accompanying the rescue team was a nurse from Limassol General Hospital, who aided in the swift medical care of the injured crew member. The victim was successfully transported to the hospital's Accident and Emergency Department, where he arrived around 4:30 p.m. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken necessary steps to inform the individual’s family about the situation and ongoing care.
