Between March 30 and April 4, 2024, the cargo ship 'Pola Pelagia' offloaded goods at Bari, originating from the Russian port of Kavkaz. Following closely, the 'Pola Maria', another vessel linked to the same shipping company, made port in Brake from April 5-6, bringing with it a sizable shipment of 7.80 kilotonnes of grain and oilseeds sourced from Kaliningrad. While agricultural commodities are exempt from the EU sanctions regime, it's noteworthy that both vessels and their operator, Pola Rise LLC, are currently under sanctions imposed by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
