Ahu C Successfully Refloated After Grounding on Congo River

The MV 'Ahu C', which was transporting a substantial cargo of 20,000 tonnes of bagged rice, found itself stranded on the Congo River on April 12, 2021. The grounding occurred around 100 miles away from Pointe Noire and approximately 15.4 miles from the Banana Inner Anchorage, precisely at coordinates 006 01 01S, 12 46 53E, at 4:30 PM. In response to this maritime incident, T&T Savage LLC was hired under a Lloyd's Open Form (LOF) salvage contract on April 14 to facilitate the vessel's refloat operation. After several days of diligent efforts, the Ahu C was successfully refloated and resumed its journey on April 22 at 1:20 PM, sailing towards Boma. The vessel finally docked at Boma on April 24 at 2:10 PM, successfully completing its salvage mission.

The 'Alexandros Theo' was making its way southbound after transiting the Bosphorus, coming from Varnanto, Ghent. Meanwhile, the 'Ephesus III' was on a route from Tuapse to Alexandria when it allided with the anchored 'Alexandros Theo.' Fortunately, both vessels sustained only minor damages and proceeded to anchor near the site of the collision for further assessment and safety.
