Emergency Medivac Operation Near Bermuda for Crew Member
On November 8, 2019, the 'Energy Commander,' a tanker navigating from Texas to the Netherlands, made a crucial detour to Bermuda to assist a crew member in distress. The 41-year-old Russian sailor was experiencing severe abdominal pain and required immediate medical attention. Early in the morning, the vessel reported the situation and sought assistance for the ailing crew member. A medivac operation was swiftly initiated, with the patient being transferred to the Pilot/Rescue boat 'St. David' near St. David's Lighthouse. He was then taken ashore to Ordnance Island, where a waiting ambulance transported him to King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH). After ensuring the crew member received the necessary medical care, the 'Energy Commander' continued her journey to Rotterdam.
