Coal-Laden Maria G.O. Runs Aground Near Gladstone

On November 26, 2018, at 11 p.m., the bulk carrier 'Maria G.O.' encountered a navigational mishap while departing from Gladstone. The vessel, loaded with coal and en route to Banyuquan, deviated from its designated route and ultimately ran aground on the East Banks, located south of Facing Island. Fortunately, the ship was successfully refloated approximately one hour later, thanks to the coordinated efforts of eight tugboats. After being freed, 'Maria G.O.' was anchored for necessary inspections at the coordinates 23Β° 52.11' S, 151Β° 30.06' E in the outer anchorage. Following the assessments, the bulk carrier resumed its voyage from Gladstone anchorage on December 6.

Collision Leads to Abandonment of Bulk Carrier 'Yang En 1' near Weihai Isle

On April 5, 2015, at approximately 1 p.m., the bulk carrier 'Yang En 1', owned by Zhejiang Grace Yang Shipping Co. from Ningbo, encountered a serious incident when it collided with the vessel 'Maria G.O.'. The accident took place approximately 18 miles southeast of Weihai Isle, leading to significant challenges for the crew of the 'Yang En 1'. After suffering from water ingress, the 14-member crew was forced to abandon their ship, boarding a liferaft to ensure their safety. Fortunately, they were rescued by nearby vessels shortly thereafter. The 'Yang En 1', which was unloaded and traveling from Ningbo to Yantai, eventually reached the Rongcheng Yuantong Shipyard in Shidao at around 3:30 p.m. On the other hand, the 'Maria G.O.', carrying 10,000 tons of manganese ore and en route from Tianjin to Lianyungang, reported minor damage and that its crew of 19 remained unharmed after the collision.
