On the night of November 15, 2018, the vessel 'Koravi' encountered trouble as it ran aground near Akrotiri Dhaka, located on Lefkada's southern coastline in the Ionian Sea. The ship, which was transporting 1,949 tons of iron rods from Amaliapolis Volos to Albania, experienced water ingress while navigating the area. With eight Albanian crew members aboard, the Greek Coastguard promptly responded by deploying two patrol boats and a helicopter to the scene. For safety reasons, all crew members were evacuated and transported to Vasiliki Health Center in Lefkada, where seven were released shortly after. At the time of the incident, southeast winds were measured at five Beaufort. Later that day, the tug 'Christos XXXIV' successfully freed the 'Koravi' from its grounding and towed it to Vassiliki Port, Lefkada. Fortunately, the water ingress at the bow did not compromise the vessel's stability. Following the incident, the Lefkada Port Authority took custody of the vessel. The 'Koravi' ultimately reached Sarande Port on December 13, where the cargo was unloaded. Subsequently, on December 22, it docked at Durres in the ex-shipyard port basin, where it is scheduled for repairs.
