In a significant development for the maritime industry, Hanjin Shipping has placed additional vessels on the market, increasing opportunities for potential buyers. According to shipbroking sources cited by Reuters, the Hanjin Mar and Hanjin Marine, both capable of carrying 4,500 TEU, are officially up for sale with bids expected to be submitted by the end of the month. The company anticipates generating approximately $40 million from the sale of these two vessels. This follows the receipt of $45 million in emergency aid from current and former chairmen, but experts suggest that Hanjin will require several hundred million dollars more to ensure its financial stability and continued operations.

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries has officially delivered the HANJIN MAR, a wide-beam vessel with a capacity of 4,530 TEU. This delivery marks the completion of a trio of sister ships that were commissioned by HI Investment & Securities, based in Seoul, back in mid-2011. The vessels were ordered based on long-term charters established with Hanjin, each spanning an impressive seven years, solidifying their significance in the maritime sector. With this latest addition, Hyundai Samho continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing shipping technology and capacity in the industry.
