Regal Princess to Undergo Unscheduld Dry Dock Amid Engine Issues
Following a spate of engine complications that disrupted itineraries on the 'Regal Princess', Princess Cruises has announced an unplanned dry docking for the vessel in April 2025. This decision comes three months after engine troubles began affecting the ship’s operational schedule. The upcoming dry dock will consequently shorten her transatlantic repositioning cruise. Guests who booked the 24-night Western Europe & British Isles Grand Adventure cruise, departing from Fort Lauderdale to Southampton, have been notified of the itinerary change. The ship, originally slated to set sail from Florida on April 4, will now arrive in Southampton earlier than expected on April 24, instead of the previously scheduled April 28. This adjustment means that some anticipated port calls will be missed. Notably, the Regal Princess was set to dock at Kirkwall, Scotland on April 24; Invergordon, Scotland on April 25; and Edinburgh on April 26. However, the updated itinerary will still include stops at four other significant ports: Falmouth, Cobh, Dun Laoghaire, and Belfast. Princess Cruises maintains that the Regal Princess is fully certified for service by all relevant authorities and remains operational for all scheduled voyages until late April. Beyond the British Isles, itinerary plans will also see the ship visiting various locations, including Ponta Delgada in the Azores, Brest in France, Amsterdam, Zeebrugge in Belgium, Dublin, and Glasgow, Scotland.
Regal Princess to Commence Sailings on November 17th After Successful Repairs
Princess Cruises announced that the 'Regal Princess' is set to return to the seas, with its new departure scheduled for November 17th from Galveston. Earlier sailings on October 27th, November 3rd, and November 10th were unfortunately canceled due to technical difficulties involving the ship's power generators. Fortunately, all necessary repairs have now been completed. As a gesture of goodwill, the cruise line has issued full refunds and an additional 50% credit towards future sailings for guests affected by the cancellations. The eagerly awaited seven-night voyage will take guests on an exciting itinerary to the Western Caribbean, including stops in Costa Maya, Roatan, and Cozumel. Travelers can look forward to a memorable experience aboard the 'Regal Princess' as it embarks on its journey once again.
Regal Princess Faces Generator Troubles, Leading to Sailing Cancellations
The cruise ship Regal Princess has encountered significant technical difficulties, forcing the cancellation of its anticipated sailing on November 10. This setback follows a previous generator issue requiring immediate attention. A dedicated engineering team has been successfully addressing a major malfunction of one of the ship's power generators, which had been repaired. However, as preparations were underway for the ship's next voyage, a second generator experienced a separate technical failure, necessitating further downtime to ensure the ship's operational safety and reliability. It remains uncertain whether these generator failures are interconnected or merely coincidental. An engineering team is diligently investigating the matter to ensure all necessary repairs are effectively completed in Galveston.
