Young German Girl Rescued from Atlantic on Royal Clipper Journey
On December 7, 2017, a medical emergency unfolded aboard the "Regina Maris" as a young German girl required urgent medical attention while traveling in the Atlantic Ocean en route to the West Indies. The situation necessitated rapid medical expertise, prompting a call for assistance to CROSS AG, the French coast guard's operation center, after coordination with their Dutch counterparts. Positioned within the French search and rescue zone, the CROSS AG swiftly took charge of the operation. The maritime medical consultation center in Toulouse quickly assessed that the girl's evacuation to a hospital was critical. At the time, the "Regina Maris" was approximately 900 nautical miles east of Martinique, making a helicopter hoist impossible due to the distance. The CROSS AG began mobilizing nearby vessels for support. Assistance came from the Russian seismic research vessel "Professor Logachev," which provided essential medical supplies and aid to the onboard doctor treating the girl. Just a day prior, on December 6, the young traveler had boarded the Maltese cruise ship "Royal Clipper," which was scheduled to rendezvous with a Panther helicopter belonging to the Caribbean Armed Forces. Despite facing challenging weather conditions, including strong winds and significant swells, the helicopter successfully hoisted the girl on the afternoon of December 8. She was then transported to a hospital in Martinique for further treatment. This incident highlights the critical role of maritime cooperation in ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals at sea.
Collision Incident During Hamburg Cruise Days 2014
On the evening of August 2, 2014, at approximately 9 p.m., a collision occurred on the Elbe River involving the vessel 'Regina Maris' and the German 18-meter launch 'Anita' (EU-No.: 05107440). This maritime incident took place amidst the festivities of the Hamburg Blue Port & Cruise Days 2014, as both vessels were engaged in escort duties for four cruise ships, positioned between the 'Aidastella' and the 'MSC Magnifica' (IMO: 9387085). The collision forced the 'MSC Magnifica', en route to Akureyri, to halt its voyage until the involved ships were removed from the navigation channel. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident. Following the collision, 'Regina Maris' docked at Kaiser Quay and eventually departed from Hamburg on August 4 at 10:30 a.m., heading to Kiel. Investigations into the collision have been initiated by local police authorities.
