On July 1, 2017, a dramatic maritime rescue unfolded near Ostend when the dredger 'Reynaert' came to the aid of the stricken sailing yacht 'Capella.' The vessel, which had set out from Breskens to participate in the Light Vessel Sailing Race to and from Zeebrugge, faced disaster when it lost its keel and capsized early that morning around 8 a.m. By 2 p.m., the crew of the 'Reynaert' managed to rescue three individuals from the water, including 17-year-old Andreas Zwanenburg, son of famed yacht designer Frans Maas, along with Dutch national Robert Tan (53) and Belgian Jan Toussein (37).
