On May 17, 2021, the drill ship 'Sagar Bhushan', carrying 101 crew members, found itself adrift due to severe cyclone conditions at coordinates 19 24 25.2N, 071 50 45.6E, about 20 nautical miles from the Panna Field. The vessel experienced a critical situation when it lost all eight of its anchors, prompting urgent assistance. The Indian Navy's INS 'Talwar' was dispatched to provide support to the drifting drill ship along with the accommodation barge 'SS-3', which had 196 personnel onboard. Both maritime units drifted approximately 50 nautical miles Southeast of Pipavav Port. Fortunately, all crew members aboard the 'Sagar Bhushan' were reported safe. A successful towing connection was established by the support vessels 'Samudra Sevak' and 'SV Cheel' of OSV. The drill ship was ultimately towed back and arrived at Mumbai harbour on May 21.

The drill ship "Sagar Bhushan" has successfully completed its repair process following fire damage incurred on February 13. After undergoing extensive repairs at Cochin Shipyard, the vessel has transitioned to the outer roads of Cochin for necessary trials. Following an inspection by a class surveyor, the ship has received clearance to re-enter service. Subsequently, the "Sagar Bhushan" set its course toward Mumbai port, marking an important milestone in its operational readiness.

The repair operations for the drill ship 'Sagar Bhushan' continue as it remains stationed in dry dock. The shipyard is actively coordinating with suppliers to expedite the delivery of essential spare parts required for the completion of repair work. The Shipping Corporation of India, which manages the vessel, is anticipating that the repairs will be finalized within the next month. Updates on the progress of the repairs will be closely monitored as the shipyard works towards a timely handover.
