Drill Ship 'Sagar Bhushan' Rescued After Cyclone Drift

On May 17, 2021, the drill ship 'Sagar Bhushan', carrying 101 crew members, found itself adrift due to severe cyclone conditions at coordinates 19 24 25.2N, 071 50 45.6E, about 20 nautical miles from the Panna Field. The vessel experienced a critical situation when it lost all eight of its anchors, prompting urgent assistance. The Indian Navy's INS 'Talwar' was dispatched to provide support to the drifting drill ship along with the accommodation barge 'SS-3', which had 196 personnel onboard. Both maritime units drifted approximately 50 nautical miles Southeast of Pipavav Port. Fortunately, all crew members aboard the 'Sagar Bhushan' were reported safe. A successful towing connection was established by the support vessels 'Samudra Sevak' and 'SV Cheel' of OSV. The drill ship was ultimately towed back and arrived at Mumbai harbour on May 21.
