Repair operations for the "Sagar Sampada" are currently underway at the Q10 berth of Cochin port, managed by a team of three contractors on behalf of the Shipping Corporation of India. Although the team is making significant progress, some crucial power cables required for replacement are still pending shipment, as they need to be imported. On the evening of March 15, 2019, at approximately 10 p.m., the research vessel 'Sagar Sampada' found itself in dire straits as it caught fire 35 miles off the coast of Mangalore, Western India.
