The oil tanker 'Noble Walker', which is presently carrying approximately one million barrels of Russian crude, has altered its route to Vadinar port. This change comes on the heels of the Adani Group's significant move on September 12, 2025, to prohibit the entry of blacklisted vessels at its Mundra port. Previously, the 'Noble Walker' was en route to Mundra, intended for the Indian refiner HPCL Mittal Energy Ltd. However, the vessel has faced sanctions from both the European Union and the United Kingdom due to violations related to transporting Russian oil and is managed by Mancera Shipping. Following a recent directive, the Adani Group has enforced a strict ban on vessels sanctioned by the EU, UK, and US at all 14 of its ports, including the vital Mundra port located in western India. It is noteworthy that Indian refiners such as HMEL and Indian Oil Corporation frequently utilize this port for oil imports, including supplies sourced from Russia.

The tanker 'Sagar Violet' was detained in Nakhodka on March 6, 2025, following allegations of unpaid wages and severe food shortages onboard. This vessel had just docked at the port of Kozmino (Nakhodka) on March 5 after its voyage from Sikka. Crew members revealed that they had not received their payments since December 2024, with debts to some crew exceeding 154,900 euros. The Nakhodka Transport Prosecutor's Office is currently conducting an inspection of the tanker, which is owned by Lagosmarine Ltd and sails under the convenience flag of Palau. Additionally, another tanker, 'Caroline Bezengi,' has also faced scrutiny for delayed crew wages. However, in a positive development, the debts owed to its crew were fully settled at the end of February after intervention from the Russian Seafarers' Union (RSUM), totaling 179,000 euros. This payment has since been delivered and distributed to the crew, ensuring those who signed off received their full three-month salary. This isn't the first incident involving unpaid crew wages in the Nakhodka region; in October 2024, the Togo-flagged m/v 'Winner' was similarly detained in the port for outstanding fees exceeding $20,000. Such situations highlight the pressing need for better management of crew wages in the maritime industry.
