Collision Incident in Brunsbüttel Involves Cargo Vessel 'Sea Prospect'
On September 3, 2019, at approximately 5 p.m., the Cyprus-flagged cargo vessel 'Sea Prospect' experienced an allision with the berthed 'Sagasbank' while navigating the New Southern Lock of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel. The 'Sea Prospect', which was making its journey from Kantvik to Casablanca, struck the stern of the stationary 'Sagasbank' due to a sudden gust of wind as it entered the lock. Both vessels sustained visible damage, including dents and scratches above the waterline. Following the incident, the 'Sea Prospect' resumed its voyage at 6:15 p.m., with an estimated time of arrival in Casablanca set for September 6 at 6 a.m. Meanwhile, the 'Sagasbank' departed the lock at 6 p.m. and continued towards its destination from Figueira da Foz to Gavle, anticipating arrival by September 6 at 8 a.m.

Divers were deployed that afternoon to assess the hull's condition. After a successful effort, the "Sagasbank" was refloated on March 29 and safely docked at the port of Kolding to unload its cargo.
