Coast Guard Undertakes Urgent Medevac of Russian Crew Member Near Cameron
On June 8, 2014, a Russian crew member aboard the 'Saimaagracht' required immediate medical attention, prompting a swift medevac operation by the Coast Guard. The vessel was located approximately 11 miles off the coast of Cameron when the crew reported that the individual was experiencing severe symptoms, including coughing up blood and struggling to breathe. At around 2:15 p.m., the situation escalated, leading to the Coast Guard being alerted. Just a couple of hours later, around 4 p.m., an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter, manned by Air Station Houston personnel and accompanied by a rescue swimmer, successfully evacuated the man. He was promptly transported to Chennault International Airport, where an ambulance was waiting to rush him to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Fortunately, medical assessments indicated that the crew member was in stable condition following treatment.

Prioritizing maritime safety, the captain ultimately decided to sink 'Pokerface.'
