Samskip Endeavour Experiences Fuel Pump Malfunction Near Mounts Bay
On March 25, 2018, at 5 p.m., the cargo ship 'Samskip Endeavour,' while navigating toward Dublin after departing from Rotterdam the day before at 7:10 p.m., signaled an issue with an overheated fuel pump to the Falmouth Coastguard. This incident occurred approximately 14.5 nautical miles south of Mounts Bay, specifically at coordinates 49°49.13'N and 05°28.38'W. Samskip Endeavour Refloated After Successful Grounding Operation
On September 5, 2011, the cargo ship 'Samskip Endeavour' was successfully refloated around 10 a.m. following a grounding incident. The tugboat 'Bargarth' played a crucial role in this operation, first assessing the situation by circling the vessel several times. Eventually, a line was connected to the ship's stern on the starboard side, enabling the tug to pull the 'Samskip Endeavour' back into the deeper waters of the shipping channel before 11 a.m. Remarkably, no damage was reported to the cargo ship during this incident. Additionally, the Coastguard was present and deployed a helicopter to monitor the surrounding area for any potential pollution risks. After the successful operation, the 'Samskip Endeavour' continued its journey and docked at the Tivoli Container Terminal in Cork on September 6.
