Successful Refloating of Scheldegracht: No Damage Found
On December 21, the cargo vessel 'Scheldegracht' was successfully refloated by the salvaging tug 'Westsund' in the Langelands Belt, approximately 10 kilometers west of Nakskov. This operation took place following the approval from the Danish Maritime Authority. After refloating, the 'Scheldegracht' anchored off Skagen on the morning of December 22. A detailed underwater inspection conducted by divers revealed no visible damage to the ship, and there were no reported oil spills at the grounding site. However, a comprehensive examination is set to take place at the vessel’s next port of call. The incident was attributed to navigational errors which led the ship to inadvertently enter the Great Belt at an inappropriate time.
