In the early hours of May 11, 2014, a maritime incident unfolded in the English Channel when the cargo ship 'Orange Island' collided with the tanker 'Sten Moster', which had departed from Antwerp the day before. The collision resulted in significant damage to the Sten Moster, leaving a three by five meter gash on its port side above the waterline. Following the incident, the Portland Coastguards promptly intervened, redirecting the damaged tanker to Rotterdam for essential repairs. By May 12, the Sten Moster was anchored at location 5 off the coast. Fortunately, the 'Orange Island' sustained only minor injuries and was permitted to continue its journey from Antwerp to New London. Both vessels were on parallel courses in the Channel when the collision occurred as one attempted to overtake the other.
