The region's authorities acted after receiving alerts about a group of fishermen boarding the ship, which has since been moved to Bossaso port for further investigation. Recent photographs circulating on social media depict a variety of trucks and military assets on board the 'Sea World', leading Puntland to question the legitimacy of the cargo. Although the federal government insists that the military equipment is legally designated for the TURKSOM Military Training Center near Mogadishu, reports have emerged indicating that some of the small arms might have been pilfered from the ship itself. Images have surfaced showing civilians in possession of machine guns and other firearms believed to originate from the vessel. On July 24, responding to federal government allegations, Puntland reiterated its determination to ensure that arms do not jeopardize Somalia's security. The spokesperson commented, "The Puntland Government continues its investigation into the vessel and the rightful ownership of its cargo to ensure that the military equipment does not fall into hands that might threaten Somalia’s security and stability."
