Tanker 'Seacharm' Sustains Damage from Explosion Near Ceyhan

On February 19, 2025, maritime reports confirmed that the oil tanker 'Seacharm' suffered damage due to an explosion off the coast of Ceyhan in late January. Following the incident, the vessel promptly made a U-turn and headed to Greece for repairs, arriving at the Skaramangas shipyard where it underwent maintenance for approximately two weeks. Thankfully, the extent of the damage was deemed minimal. After completing repairs, 'Seacharm' set sail for Es Sider in Libya to load cargo destined for Savona, Italy. The tanker successfully docked in Savona on February 14, anchoring at coordinates 44° 16' N 008° 30' E. Interestingly, on the same night, the area was marked by an unfortunate event involving another Theamaris tanker, the 'Seajewel', which was affected by two separate explosions.

Coast Guard Executes Urgent Medevac from Seacharm Near Galveston

On the evening of August 6, 2019, the United States Coast Guard successfully medevaced a 53-year-old mariner from the vessel 'Seacharm,' which was sailing from Houston to Tranmere, located 46 miles off the coast of Galveston, Texas. The distress call was received by the Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders, who learned that the chief engineer aboard the 'Seacharm' was exhibiting signs consistent with a heart attack and urgently required medical care. After evaluating the situation, the duty flight surgeon recommended immediate evacuation. In response, a crew from Air Station Houston deployed an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter to the designated location. Upon arrival, the helicopter crew skillfully hoisted the ailing mariner before swiftly transporting him to Scholes International Airport in Galveston, where emergency medical services awaited his arrival for further treatment.
