Working Conditions Aboard the Seaspan-Beacon

On April 1, 2015, Seaspan Corporation proudly announced the successful delivery of the MOL Beacon, a state-of-the-art 10,000 TEU containership. Constructed at the renowned Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., the MOL Beacon marks Seaspan's seventh addition to its fleet featuring the innovative SAVER design. This delivery is particularly significant as it represents the company's first in 2015 and is the twelfth 10,000 TEU vessel built with the fuel-efficient SAVER design at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding. The MOL Beacon is set to embark on an eight-year fixed-rate time charter with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. (MOL), further solidifying Seaspan's partnership with the leading shipping company. This new vessel is the fourth out of a planned five 10,000 TEU SAVER design boxships, and also the tenth of eleven vessels leased by Seaspan to MOL. With the addition of the MOL Beacon, Seaspan's operational fleet has now expanded to a robust total of 78 vessels, enhancing its capacity in the competitive maritime industry.
