Aliança Enhances Cabotage Fleet with Launch of New 3,800 TEU Vessels
In an exciting development for Brazil's maritime industry, Aliança has officially launched its latest container ship, the 'Sebastião Caboto', during a ceremony held on Wednesday at the Terminal Marítimo de Passageiros in Santos. The vessel was sponsored by Deise Krause, the spouse of Luis Augusto Krause, Director of Logistics, Sales, and Marketing at Josapar, one of Aliança’s significant customers, according to a press release from Hamburg Süd. The 'Sebastião Caboto' is the first of four identical container vessels designed to accommodate 3,800 TEU each, with a provision for 500 reefer plugs, enhancing Aliança’s operational capacity in Brazilian cabotage services. After her delivery from Shanghai Shipyard Co., Ltd. on January 7, 2013, the 'Sebastião Caboto' made its inaugural Brazilian port call in Manaus on February 17. Named in honor of the renowned Venetian explorer Sebastião Caboto (1472–1557), who played a significant role in mapping the Brazilian coastline and South America, the ship symbolizes Aliança's commitment to expanding its fleet and improving shipping capabilities within the region.
