Cargo Vessel Seiryu Maru Stranded in Tsushima Strait
In a dramatic incident, the cargo ship 'Seiryu Maru' ran aground at approximately 1 a.m. on March 30, 2018, on a small islet situated in the Tsushima Strait, north of Karatsu, Kyushu Island. The vessel, which was carrying a load of steel and sailing from Nagasaki to Osaka, suffered damage to its foreship, resulting in flooding of several compartments. Fortunately, efforts to refloat the ship were successful, and it was subsequently towed to Fukuoka later that same day.
