On September 30, 2011, at around noon, the vessel BSNL Venus encountered a significant mishap on the Weser River, near the Golzwarden - Brake ferry route. The ship experienced a technical malfunction that rendered it adrift, leading to an anchor being deployed. Unfortunately, the anchor became entangled with a buoy, causing the ship to become lodged against the embankment. Fortunately, the rising tide assisted in refloating the BSNL Venus. Two tugboats were dispatched to help tow the vessel to Bremerhaven since there were no available berths in Nordenham or Brake. Once at Bremerhaven, the BSNL Venus was secured at Columbus-Pier for a thorough investigation and survey. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries or oil spills resulting from the incident.
