Working Conditions Aboard the Serenada

On the evening of July 25, 2018, Novorossiysk experienced chaotic maritime conditions as powerful winds shifted from the north to the southeast, reaching speeds of 24-25 meters per second. Between 9:15 PM and 9:45 PM, four vessels lost their moorings, leading to notable incidents at the port. The cargo ship m/v 'Serenada' suffered a breach in her stern moorings, resulting in a collision with berth no.39. Simultaneously, the sheerleg crane 'Barbaros 3' broke loose from its fore and aft moorings, despite attempting to secure itself with anchors, and veered towards the floating dock No. 3 at the Novorossiysk Ship Repair Yard. The bulk carrier 'Lion' also experienced a failure, breaking its stern moorings and impacting berth no.5. Lastly, the vessel 'Storm' dragged its anchor and veered outside anchorage limits, grounding itself before successfully refloating and returning to its designated anchorage. Fortunately, all reported damages to the vessels and port facilities were classified as non-serious, allowing operations to continue with minimal disruption.
