On January 26, 2015, at 11:06 p.m. local time, the CROSS Etel received an emergency alert regarding the health of a Filipino crew member aboard the container ship "Shanghai Express." The vessel was positioned approximately 160 nautical miles southwest of Brest when the incident occurred. Following a detailed discussion involving the Médical Maritime Consultation Center (MMCC) in Germany and the crew of the "Shanghai Express," it was concluded that a medical evacuation was necessary. The CROSS Etel promptly dispatched a Cayman helicopter from the naval air base at Lanvéoc-Poulmic, complete with a medical team on board. By 1:55 p.m., the helicopter reached the vessel and successfully hoisted the stricken crew member. The patient was then transported to Cavale Blanche Hospital in Brest, where he arrived safely at 3:10 p.m., ensuring swift medical attention for his condition.
